APOCALYPSE NOW: FINAL CUT Headed to Cinemas this July!
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Francis Ford Coppola‘s Oscar-winning Vietnam war epic, APOCALYPSE NOW, StudioCanal will release the filmmaker’s never-before-seen and newly restored FINAL CUT to Australian cinemas this July.
Restored for the first time from the original negative over a period of eleven months with over 2,700 hours spent on cleaning and restoring the film’s 300,173 frames. This restoration has been brought to life through ultra-vivid picture quality with Dolby Vision, delivering spectacular colours never before seen on a screen, with highlights that are up to 40 times brighter, and blacks that are 10 times darker. As for the sound, its been mixed in Dolby Atmos to offer a truly immersive sound experience and enhanced with Meyer Sound Laboratories’ newly developed Sensual Sound, a technology engineered to output audio below the limits of human hearing.
APOCALYPSE NOW was nominated for 8 Academy Awards (including Best Picture) and won 2 Academy Award for Best Cinematography and Best Sound, it follows Army Captain Willard (Martin Sheen), a troubled man sent on a dangerous and mesmerizing odyssey into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade American colonel named Kurtz (Marlon Brando), who has succumbed to the horrors of war and barricaded himself in a remote outpost.
APOCALYPSE NOW: FINAL CUT will open in cinemas on limited release across Australia on July 25th, ahead of its Q3 home entertainment release where StudioCanal will unleash it on a three-disc 4K Ultra-HD set, Blu-ray & DVD.
