THE BELKO EXPERIMENT Australian Theatrical Release Announced!

21 August 2017

It seems Greg McLean’s THE BELKO EXPERIMENT isn’t headed direct to home entertainment locally after all. Initially scheduled for August on DVD, the title has been rescheduled to December and a Thursday October 12th theatrical release date added. As to whether the release will be wide or limited has yet to be confirmed at this stage.

As the film is now going theatrical the film has been resubmitted to the classification board, interestingly prior it received an <R>18+ for home entertainment but with the recent resubmission it’s garnered an [MA]15+. It’s hard to ascertain as to whether anything’s been trimmed ahead of the resubmission to guarantee a lower classification as the original submission most likely contained Special Feature contents hence the disparity between its original 118 minute duration and the now re-subed 88 minute runtime.

From writer, producer James Gunn (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 1 & 2, SLITHER), director Greg McLean (WOLF CREEK, JUNGLE) and producer Peter Safran (THE CONJURING), comes a tale of 80 odd American employees who are tested in a twisted social experiment of bone-crunching horror!

About the film:
Belko Industries, a normally calm workplace, gets a rude awakening when a mysterious voice on the intercom orders them to participate in a ruthless game of kill or be killed in a blood-soaking battle royale at their office building in Bogotá, Colombia. As the terror escalates, so does the body count. Everyone is a competitor and everyday objects become deadly weapons. Let the corporate carnage commence!

THE BELKO EXPERIMENT opens in Australian cinemas on Thursday October 12th via Rialto Distribution.
