UNA (Limited Release)
Adapted from David Harrower’s award-winning play BLACKBIRD, UNA is a provocative and unsettling drama with dynamic interplay by actors Ben Mendelsohn & Rooney Mara. A young woman’s journey to reclaim her past. Fifteen years earlier, Una ran away with an older man, Ray, a crime for which he was arrested and imprisoned. When she comes across a photo of him in a trade magazine, Una tracks him down and turns up at his workplace. Her abrupt arrival threatens to destroy Ray’s new life and derail her stability.
TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT
Fresh from the bowel of Michael Bay, another cinematic nugget of processed franchise fare, more than meets the sighs. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

THE EYES OF MY MOTHER
One of the most disturbing horror films of 2016 is also one of the most critically lauded, having made many Top 10 lists including Rolling Stone, Fangoria, Bloody Disgusting & BuzzFeed among others. Francisca, is a young, lonely woman who becomes consumed by her deepest and darkest desires after tragedy strikes her quiet country life. Raised by her mother, a former surgeon from Portugal, trained in anatomy and taught to be unfazed by death, young Francisca’s idyllic life is shattered with the arrival of a mysterious visitor whose actions deeply traumatize the girl, but also awakening unique, disturbing curiosities. Though she clings to her increasingly reticent father, Francisca’s loneliness and scarred nature converge years later when her longing to connect with the world around her takes on a dark form. Shot in mesmeric black and white, THE EYES OF MY MOTHER bucks traditional horror tropes to create what could be considered a new style of American Gothic. Magnificently horrific Nicolas Pesce’s debut feature is a deliciously gorgeous nightmare that simultaneously seduces and abhors.
Extreme tourism is so passé, customised living nightmares are where it’s at and FEAR INC. delivers that…well in filmic form! What if there was a company you could call that, for a premium, will bring your fears to life. You don’t have to leave your house, your office, or your vacation; the scares are customized to your tastes and arrive at your doorstep when you least expect it. But like texting an ex at 2am, what sounds like a great idea at the time, can end up getting you killed. When horror movie enthusiast Joe Foster and his girlfriend, Lindsey Gains, are handed a business card for such a company, Joe’s curiosity gets the best of him. As the Fear Inc experience begins things quickly turn from light hearted fun to uncomfortably realistic.

A CURE FOR WELLNESS
After a successive run of high concept blockbusters, director Gore Verbinski returns with his first genre film since 2002’s THE RING and the survey says ‘turd’. An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure. From Gore Verbinski, the visionary director of THE RING, comes the new psychological thriller, A CURE FOR WELLNESS.
LET HER OUT
From filmmaker Cody Calahan, the director responsible for the 2012 hit ANTISOCIAL comes a body-horror that amps the gore in its visceral attack on the viewer. After a severe car accident, bike courier Helen is plagued by terrifying hallucinations and blackouts. Eventually a MRI reveals the reason for her visions: Before she was born, Helen absorbed her twin sister in the womb, and now because of the accident, her twin consciousness has re-emerged. Slowly Helen turns into a monster as her twin takes control of their shared body, threatening not only Helen but all those close her.
Apparently loosely based on true events, ISOLATION is a DTV cat and mouse thriller starring none other than PRISON BREAK’S Dominic Purcell as a baddie…a bald baddie at that. In a last ditch effort to save their marriage Creighton and Lydia head to a remote island in the Bahamas for a tropical vacation. Staying on an isolated beach, they meet William and Mary, who live on a nearby island and invite them for dinner. Upon their return, they are shocked to discover that they have been robbed. With no sign of the intruders, they seek help from the only other people on the island, a couple named Jacob and Nina. Though friendly at first, the mysterious couple seems to be hiding darker motives that will put Creighton and Lydia in a fight for their lives.
HEADSHOT (DVD Only)
Earning its <R>18+ classification for intense, relentless and extremely realistic violence, it comes as no surprise that HEADSHOT shares its bulk of talent with THE RAID franchise, from lead actor Iko Uwais through to the very same stunt choreography team. A nameless man wakes up in a hospital with severe head trauma, not knowing who he is or what happened to him. Assisted by devoted student doctor Ailin, who nicknames him “Ishmael” after the character in Moby Dick, he recovers and tries to regain his memory. Naturally, Ishmael’s past is about to catch up with him, in the form of Lee, a drug lord and gang boss whose tentacles reach deep into the police and the penal system. When Ailin is kidnapped and Ishmael sets out to get her back, he finds himself pitted against an array of skilled fighters who may have been his former colleagues. As Ishmael battles through a series of deadly fights with this squad of enforcers, fragments of his past are teased out and the puzzle of his identity begins to come together.|
