KILLING GROUND (Limited Release)
After touring Australia throughout the year on the MONSTER FEST TRAVELLING SIDESHOW, Damien Power’s brutal Australian survival horror KILLING GROUND opens in cinemas across Australia. When young urbanites Ian and Sam decide to go camping, they arrive at their isolated destination to discover another tent already set up, but no sign of its owners. With the other campers at large, Ian and Sam’s discovery of a child wandering alone sets off a terrifying chain of events that will push them to their limits – and beyond. Stay tuned later this week as we release more footage from our Q&A with writer/director Damien Power and actors Herriet Dyer & Aaron Glenane recorded earlier this year at MONSTER FEST TRAVELLING SIDESHOW Sydney.
TERMINATOR 2 – 3D (Limited Release)
James Cameron’s 1991 epic action/sci-fi masterpiece starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in his most iconic role, has been painstakingly restored and post-converted in 3D for a limited theatrical engagement this weekend, ahead of its September home entertainment release. Following on ten years later from the events of TERMINATOR, Sarah Connor’s ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John, the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator, sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he’s still a child. Sarah and John don’t have to face this terrifying threat alone however. The human resistance have managed to send them an ally, a warrior from the future ordered to protect John Connor at any cost. The battle for tomorrow has begun.
Following EDGE OF TOMORROW, Tom Cruise & director Doug Liman re-team for a new actioner based on a true story that releases in Australia a whole month before it opens in US cinemas. An international escapade based on the outrageous (and real) exploits of a hustler and pilot (Cruise) unexpectedly recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S. history.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
Genre luminary come fanboy’s best friend, James Gunn (SLITHER, SUPER) returns to the director’s chair for the sequel to his 2014 breakout Marvel Studios’ hit and in our opinion it’s every bit as solid as its predecessor. Much to our delight, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 will mark Disney’s first foray into the 4K Ultra-HD marketplace and early reviews are suggesting that this is a reference quality release! Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favourite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Phillip Escott & Craig Newman’s genuinely nasty and provocative thriller is as bleak as it is engaging, the scariest part of all is that it’s based on a true story! Danny, a teenager with autism, escapes the inner city for camping trip in the beautiful countryside. Little does he know he is being stalked by the psychotic Nicholas, who believes Danny slept with his girlfriend, Julia. Unfortunately for Danny, the romantic interlude is a fabrication created by Nicola (who is secretly in love with Nicolas) and her friend Calvin which is designed to send Nicolas into a jealous rage . Their plan works a little too well as Nicholas’ behaviour towards Danny becomes increasingly erratic and violent and It isn’t long before the troublemaking two are in way over their heads.
Penned by FINAL DESTINATION scribe Jeffrey Reddick, DEAD AWAKE has been met with less than favourable reviews but its trailer gives hope of a classic horror movie aesthetic and on that alone we’ll give it a watch! Kate Bowman is a by-the-books social worker who is investigating a series of mysterious deaths. Each victim suffered from sleep paralysis, a frightening ailment that immobilizes its victims as they dream. Kate is approached by an unorthodox doctor who warns of an evil entity that haunts people in their sleep. She brushes aside his admonition, but when a terrifying entity begins to haunt Kate’s friends and loved ones, she must fight to stay awake to stop the nightmare she’s unleashed.
THE SURVIVOR (Blu-ray Only)
After a number of delays dating back to last year, Glass Doll Films finally release THE SURVIVOR to Blu-ray and it seems it was well worth the wait, porting the bulk of extras from the US/UK Severin Films release and adding to it with more including a commentary track with producer Antony Ginnane and some never seen before behind-the-footage transferred from 8mm. A jumbo jet takes off from an international airport but within minutes it plummets to the ground. The resulting fire ensures there are no survivors except one – the pilot. Tormented by guilt, he desperately tries to unravel the mystery behind the crash and the series of sinister, unnatural events which surround the catastrophe.
