Winner of the Special Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival 1973, the trip-tastic sci-fi classic, FANTASTIC PLANET (LA PLANÈTE SAUVAGE) plays Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema on Friday, September 16th.
It’s the distant future on planet Ygam, and its inhabitants – enormous blue humanoids named Draags – have brought “Oms” (humans) from planet Earth to examine. Some live in the wild on the bizarre planet, while others are kept as pets. One such ‘pet’ is Terr, a young orphan boy kept by Draag leader Master Sinh and his daughter Tiva. As Terr grows, so does Tiva who educates him on all forms of Draag life including a special kind of astral meditation and how to use headphones that transmit information to your mind. All information that might be of use when Terr escapes into the feral landscape.
