Here’s the official press release that went out to media outlets today…

For Immediate Release:

Monster Pictures today announces the Australian theatrical tour of Sundance 2016 cult sensation, THE GREASY STRANGLER.

The tour – dubbed ‘The Greasy Down Under Tour’ – will see a number of Special Event screenings of the film take place along the Australian east coast in late November/early December 2016, accompanied by the two stars of the film, Michael St Michaels and Sky Elobar.

Directed by Britain’s emerging cult movie wunderkind Jim Hosking, THE GREASY STRANGLER tells the story of Big Ronnie (Michael St Michaels), a man who runs a disco walking tour of LA with his son, Big Brayden (Sky Elobar). When a sassy young thing named Janet (Elizabeth De Razzo) appears on one of their tours, it sets off a fierce rivalry between father and son for her affections – it also brings about the appearance of a grease-covered maniac who stalks the streets at night, strangling the innocent – a beast known as The Greasy Strangler!

Produced by an eclectic team that includes the likes of American actor Elijah Wood (LORD OF THE RINGS), British director Ben Wheatley (HIGH-RISE), American cinema chain entrepreneur Tim League (Alamo Drafthouse) and prolific Kiwi film producer Ant Timpson (DEATHGASM), THE GREASY STRANGLER is easily one of the strangest, most hilarious and utterly stupefying films to emerge in recent times.

Described by Empire Magazine as “insanely compelling and funny, one of the best films of 2016” and by The Guardian as “a playful oasis of filth and depravity”, THE GREASY STRANGLER is that rare breed of cult film that’ll simultaneously charm you, disgust you, and fill you full of fear and dread! Part comedy, part romance, part horror – it’s an all-out greasy spectacular that is almost impossible to pigeon hole, and like a greasy stain on your favourite trousers, will mark you for a lifetime – but will always be there to remind you of your good times with a gorgeous greasy treat!

Monster Pictures recently invited a group of “everyday Australians” to view the film, and today releases an exclusive promo video that gives local audiences a glimpse into the demented and varied layers that await them with THE GREASY STRANGLER.

THE GREASY STRANGLER will play Special Event dates from November 27, when it will close Melbourne’s annual ‘Monster Fest’, to December 4th when it will also see out Sydney’s annual ‘A Night of Horror Film Festival’.  Screenings will be accompanied by Greasy Q&As, with selected sessions holding Greasy Galas where Greasy revellers will get the chance to transform into “hootie tootie disco cuties!”

Greasy fans can stay up to date with the latest comings and goings of the ‘Greasy Down Under Tour’ via the hashtag #greasydownunder or through the web address

Post tour, THE GREASY STRANGLER will screen in selected cinemas across the nation throughout the summer months, dates and venues TBC.

Monster Pictures will also be releasing its ‘Ultimate Grease Pack’ Collectors’ DVD and Blu-Ray for home entertainment in 2017, dates TBC.
