If you like your shark flicks with a tidal wave of MTV style, then this one’s for you! In the taut thriller The Shallows, when Nancy (Blake Lively) is surfing on a secluded beach, she finds herself on the feeding ground of a great white shark. Though she is stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy’s ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude.
Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 & 3, VIRAL) bring their CATFISH aesthetic to cinema with NERVE. Industrious high school senior, Vee Delmonico (Emma Roberts) is tired of living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee teams up with a sly and charming competitor (Dave Franco) for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as Vee is caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition, the game takes a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading Vee into a high-stakes finale that will determine her entire future.
After the mess and agony caused by BATMAN VS SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE earlier this year, it’s actually a relief that Warner are bringing back television’s vintage sixties Batman to the big screen, albeit in animated form and best of all they’ve got Adam West, Burt Ward & Julie Newmar reprising their roles! It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. The four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It’s a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil … and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!
From producers Eli Roth & Jason Blum comes a short-lived but highly praised television series with episodes directed by such genre luminaries as Ti West & Jennifer Lynch. Charleston, South Carolina is the most possessed city in the world. Evil thrives here. Something with which 30-year old exorcist Maria Abascal is intimately acquainted. She wrestles demons for a living. Especially Abigail, the one that lives within her. The one who feeds on damned souls and who’s violated the laws of Hell to live on Earth—and live on, inside Maria. Now, as they work as one, Maria will discover how personal her battle with evil has become, and how far Abigail will go to protect them both. It’s a journey where the unspeakable is just a heartbeat away.
