FOR FILM’S SAKE Opening Night & Key Note Address

Join FOR FILM’S SAKE Opening Night with keynote address by Anna Serner.

Formerly the WOW Film Festival – Sydney, FOR FILM’S SAKE (FFS) have officially kicked off a more sustainable platform with inclusivity, growth, and longevity at the forefront of what we do and how we do it. The festival is set to shift to a more acute focus on activating content in new and unexpected ways.

As CEO of the Swedish Film Institute, Anna Serner implemented the groundbreaking, controversial, and arguably well overdue 50/50 gender mandate for all Swedish productions. Serner achieved parity in funding and development in just three years through a fearless commitment to transparency; continuously mining statistics to uncover bias and enforce fairness. Paving the way for the rest of the world lagging behind, Serner holds an extensive marketing background, is an incredible speaker, and an internationally renowned thought leader for equality in the film industry, on and off screen.

FFS is thrilled to present Anna Serner in her first Australian appearance, after delivering keynote addresses at Cannes, Berlinale, Gothenburg & New York Film Festival. In partnership with the Ethics Centre, FFS will bring together Anna Serner and industry experts in the ‘fishbowl’, an audience-engaged round table designed to activate discussion and broaden perspectives. Featuring Professor Deb Verhoeven, this evening is a must for all champions and challengers to change to understand what we each can do individually and collectively to shift Australia’s own shocking statistics to gender disparity in all industries.
